Parents should be aware of these procedures:*Students ten years of age or younger will receive a second dose of vaccine no less than 21 days following their first dose. *To receive a second dose, students must have received their first immunization during the AASD mass inoculation. Children who received their first dose from their health care provider must return to that physician for a second dose or attend a Blair County community immunization clinic which will be scheduled. *Students who are absent when immunizations are given at their school must go to a health care provider or a community clinic to receive the vaccine. *Parents will not be present when their children are vaccinated at school. Despite the cost and the massive amount of preparation needed for this mass inoculation, Altoona Area School District is pleased to provide its students with this opportunity to stay healthy and maintain excellent attendance records during the school year. |
